This thread was originally posted on SMC by Mark Vernon. It is here with his permission.

So this garden bench was my first use of my new EZ equipment. My aim was to get some practice with the equipment and some techniques new to me before trying them on more advanced and valuable projects.
The bench is made of some of the newer, lighter colored, pressure treated lumber. I used the guide rails for all the rips and my shorter rail mounted on 5 1/2" carriage bolts and the smart clamp upgrades for most of the short cuts and the angle cuts on the arm rests. All were a piece of cake! I used the srk and a simple jig to hold the vertical stiles motionless to rout the faces on all the stiles, like Dino showed in his earlier video. Thanks Dino.
The shoulders were easier to do on my band saw(also first use).
I even cut the angled back legs clamped under the rails, but stopped near the middle of the angle and finished with the jig saw, then smoothed with rasp and sandpaper. 40 mortises and tenons gave me lots of practice! The side supports are m&t joints, the top one being 2x4. the bottom 1x.
I sanded all the contact surfaces, then applied an oil base stain and protectant for outdoor use with water repellant and UV protectant properties. The m&t work was a real challenge, but I got better as it went along,so it served me well from a practice point of view. Don't even ask how many hours I had in it! It sits real nice!
Thanks for looking
Mark

Real nice. You should get many years of use out of it.

Nice one! I think the color came out real well too.

Good Job.

Hey Mark,
It is obviously not your first project, only your first with the EZ. Nice work.
