| I finally completed this EZ-Futon. Everything except the long rails were made with my PBB: It is constructed out of red oak. Almost all of the pieces required true 1" thickness so I milled down rough sawn oak. I used my EZ tools for breaking down the 5/4 x 12" x 12" planks of oak - even ripping to reduce the board warp and narrow the planks to size. These types of cuts can not be done safely on a conventional TS. I need to apply a finish and mattress then I'm done. Mike | |

| Hey Mike, that looks like it was a fun project. How did you connect all your slats, biscuits? Did you have a plan to work off for the pivot function of the futon frame? It looks as though you had to route a curved groove on both sides, curious as to how you figured out the shape of that groove.
Also, how did you post photo? I went to the faq section and it said we had to post them to a seperate server? I am a much better woodworker than computer guy so any advice that could make it EZ would be appreciated.

Did you have a plan to work off for the pivot function of the futon frame? I bought the plans and special hardware from Rockler. It looks as though you had to route a curved groove on both sides Again, the plans from included a template to rout the groove for the futon mechanism., curious as to how you figured out the shape of that groove.
Also, how did you post photo? I'm sure there are many ways, but, I have been very pleased for several years with Photobucket. It's a free online account that you upload files from your computer. Then it allows you to create links for forums like this. I went to the faq section and it said we had to post them to a seperate server? Jason Jason - I have actually built two of these. My oldest son liked the first one so much he stole it . Very fun to build and a great way to get acquainted with the EZ tools. With the first one I adjusted the dimensions and used 3/4" thick lumber. On this one I used true 1" thick lumber as the directions called out. (PM me if interested in the plans)Mike | |
