| Subject: Why use the 24-tooth saw blade instead of... August 4th 2009, 12:18 pm | |
| I ordered my first sgs-64 with the square and handle option last week and it should be in my hands on Aug 5. I was reading the instructions and also viewing the videos on how to set up the system. The instructions for setting up the saw shoe it states to use a 24-tooth saw blade but no other reason that I could find as to why is stated. All my saw blades are 40 and 60-tooth and I would prefer to use what I have instead of buying another saw blade. Can someone explain to me the reason you "must use" a 24-tooth saw blade instead of the types with more teeth? Thanks | |

| Welcome to EZ...
I'm not sure where it says to use a 24 tooth blade, but a 40 tooth is what most of us use. A 60 tooth really slows the cut and does not usually give any better results than a good 40 tooth. People usually use 60 tooth blades for cutting plywood to reduce chip-out, but with EZ, you don't really get chip-out. Maybe some one else can give an explanation fr the 24 tooth recommendation.

| Hi Dik,I stand corrected, you are correct in that it states to use 40-tooth saw blades. The 24-tooth is recommended for use with hardwoods. Thanks for the clarification. | |

I just purchased one for my new EZ Smart Guide 114" Package that I've not used yet.
http://www.amazon.com/Freud-LU79R007-Perma-Shield-Ultimate-38-Degree/dp/B002IPHGA2 That might be better for Melamine, but for general use, I (as well as several other experienced users) think you will be happy with the Freud, Diablo, 40 tooth that is available at Home Depot for around $15.

Is there an Industrial version of the Diablo 40 tooth from Freud?
